Add Expense
Amount, account and category right on the Home Screen. On the Lock Screen, the widget looks like a round “+” button.
The XL size is only available on iPad and Mac, and Lock Screen widgets work on iPhone with iOS 16 and iPad with iPadOS 17.
Adding and setting up
You add widgets the usual iPhone way.
- Add
Touch and hold an empty spot on the Home Screen → “Edit” → “Add Widget” → MyLife. Pick a widget and a size. On Mac: right-click the desktop → “Edit Widgets”.
- Customize
Touch and hold the widget → “Edit Widget”. My Day has six switches. In Pinned you choose what to show, in Navigation the buttons, in Tasks the list. Settings are available from iOS 17.
- Lock Screen
Touch and hold the Lock Screen → “Customize” → “Lock Screen” → the widget area → MyLife.
My Day
The main widget shows your day on one screen. The bigger the size, the more you see.

- Small: the next event or up to three tasks, plus the day’s progress.
- Medium: event and tasks on the left, habit rings and the daily budget on the right.
- Large: day timeline with a “now” line, tasks without a time, habits, budget and quick buttons “Expense”, “Task”, “Note” and the assistant. After 20:00, “Note” changes to “Review”.
- Extra large on iPad and Mac: day timeline, tasks and habits in three columns.
- Switches: “Events”, “Tasks”, “Habits”, “Budget”, “Quick buttons”, “Look ahead to tomorrow”.
Checking off in a widget
From iOS 17, you can check off tasks and habits right in the widget, without opening the app.
- Tasks: the circle checks and unchecks the task. An overdue task is checked off for the day it was due.
- Yes/no habits toggle with a tap.
- Count habits up to 20 (times, sets, pages, glasses) get +1 per tap. Minutes, liters and goals above 20 open the app.
- Where it works: medium, large and extra large My Day (extra large is on iPad and Mac), and Pinned in any size on the Home Screen. In the small My Day, on the Lock Screen and in “Tomorrow” mode, a tap opens the app.
- How it reaches the server: the check shows in the widget right away and syncs when you open MyLife. XP is awarded once.
Pinned
A widget for one important thing: a goal for the month, a habit, a shopping list, a note with your Wi-Fi password.

Progress, deadline, upcoming tasks with check-offs. The large size shows stages.

Streak, ring and “+”. The large size adds a month of check-offs, the best streak and the percentage for the month.
- Six types: task, habit, goal, list, note, event.
- From the app: long-press an item → “Pin to widget”. If you have Pinned widgets in different sizes, you’ll be asked to pick a size.
- From the widget: “Edit Widget” → “Show”, with search. The last action wins.
- You can’t pin: a note inside a task, an archived list or an Apple Calendar event.
- A view-only shared list is shown without check-offs and without “+”.
Live Activity iPhone only
A task, habit, goal or event on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island all day. Requires iOS 16.2, and iOS 17 for check-offs.

- Pin: long-press → “Pin to Live Activity”. You can pin only one, and a new one replaces the old. “Remove from Live Activity” takes it off.
- Task: list, priority, time with a countdown and the first subtask, plus a “done” button.
- Habit: streak, “3 of 8”, the week. Yes/no habits can be checked off, count habits have a “+1” button, minutes and liters have “Enter”.
- Goal: percentage, stage, deadline and the next task.
- Event: a countdown to the start, then to the end with a bar, and a “Join” button for a call link.
- When it goes away: right away once done; once past or deleted, after the app updates the card. iOS also removes a Live Activity on its own after a few hours.
Other widgets
For jumping quickly into sections and adding entries.

- Navigation: 4, 8 or all 15 buttons: nine sections and six “add” buttons. Pick the set and order in “Edit Widget”.
- Tasks: open tasks only, no check-offs, a tap opens the section. The medium size also shows tomorrow.
- Calendar: the rest of today, or today and tomorrow. On the Lock Screen, the widget shows the next event.
- Add Expense: keypad, account with arrows, four categories per page, “Save”. Requires iOS 17. The expense goes into your wallet when you open MyLife.
- Icon shortcuts: touch and hold the MyLife icon to see “Assistant”, “Task”, “Note”, “Expense”, “Event”, “Income”.
Siri, Control Center and Spotlight
You can call up MyLife by voice and from the Lock Screen.
- 🗣️
Siri and Shortcuts
“Add expense in MyLife”, “New task”, “New habit”, “New note”, “New event”, “Log income”, “Sum up my day”, “Ask MyLife”, “Start pomodoro”, “Open {section}”. The commands open the right screen.
- 🎛️
Control Center
From iOS 18: “Expense”, “Income”, “Transfer”, “Task”, “Habit”, “Note”, “Event”, “Day Results”, “Assistant”, “Pomodoro”. You can also put them on the Lock Screen instead of the flashlight, or on the Action button.
- 🔍
Spotlight
Search finds open tasks, lists, notes, active goals and habits. The index is cleared when the app is locked with Face ID or a passcode, and when you sign out.
Updates and appearance
Widgets don’t go online: the app on this device prepares their data.
- When they update: when you open or close MyLife, after a sync and after your edits. My Day and Calendar also move along with the clock: the countdown to an event, midnight.
- Edits from another device or the web app show up in the widget after you open MyLife here.
- A day without opening the app: My Day will ask you to open the app to load the new day.
- Accent color and font come from “Appearance”. Light or dark theme always follows the system, and the text size from “Appearance” doesn’t apply to widgets.
- On Mac, widgets turn semi-transparent when another app is active.
