Step 1

What XP is

MyLife gives you XP when you complete tasks, check off habits and keep track of your budget. XP adds up to your level, your life area XP and your place in the ranking.

  • Free: XP, levels and the ranking work without a subscription.
  • Account required: without signing in there's no level card or ranking, and XP is only stored on the device.
  • There are limits: each section has a daily cap, and a record deleted soon after creation takes its XP back.
Step 2

Where to see your level

The Profile tab: a card with your level, a progress bar and the 🔥 streak counter.

  • Tap your level to open a sheet: your current level, the next one and how much XP you need to reach it.
  • The streak on your phone counts days you opened the app, and in the web app it counts days you earned XP.
  • A new level is celebrated with a medal and confetti.
  • In the web app, your profile also shows today's XP, your pace (“level in N days”) and a year map.
The level sheet over the profile: level 7, 1240 XP, 160 to the next level

Step 3

What earns XP

Points are the same on all devices. The limit shows how much XP a section can give per day.

ActionXPLimit and conditions
Task completed+5About 50 per day for all tasks
High-priority task+10Within the same limit
Task gets a due date or a repeat+1Once per task
All of today's tasks completed+20Once a day, if you have 3 or more tasks due today
Habit checked off+3Today only, about 30 per day
All of today's habits done+10Once a day, if you have 2 or more habits today
New goal+5Once per goal
New calendar event+2Up to 10 per day

New debt+2Once per debt

Debt fully paid off+15Once
Monthly Budget Plan+10Plus +2 for each row, up to 200 per month. A new plan counts up to 10 rows of each type
Day results+3Once per date, PRO required
Pomodoro session+2From 3 minutes, up to 16 per day. iPhone, iPad and Mac only

No XP for: transfers, accounts, automatic subscription expenses, statement import, editing records, notes, Feed posts and completing a whole goal (a goal earns XP through its tasks).

Step 4

Limits and when XP is taken back

Limits protect against farming, like a thousand “drink water” tasks.

  • A section's limit counts all of today's XP in that section, bonuses included. The last award can go slightly over the cap.
  • The limit goes by when you act: if you check off yesterday's task today, the XP goes toward today's limit.
  • A one-time task gives XP once, a repeating one once for each day.
  • ↩️

    Unchecked

The XP for the task or habit is taken back, and so is the day bonus if the day is no longer complete.

  • ⏱️

    Deleted quickly

A task within 2 minutes. An event, transaction or plan row within 3 minutes. A goal, habit or debt within 5 minutes.

  • 🗓️

    Due date removed

The task loses the +1 for the due date.

Step 5

Levels

Each level needs 50 XP more than the one before: 50 to reach level 2, 100 from level 2 to 3, then 150 and so on.

250 XP
3150
4300
5500
102,250
155,250
209,500
5061,250
  • Formula: to reach level L, you need 25 × L × (L − 1) XP.
  • There's no top level.
  • Your level can drop if XP is taken back, for example after deleting lots of tasks.
📈
An active day (five tasks, three habits and a couple of expenses) gives about 40 XP. Complete all of the day's tasks and habits, and the bonuses bring it up to 70. At that pace you reach level 5 in about a week and level 10 in about a month.
Step 6

XP by life area

Every award remembers the record's life area. The total for a life area shows in the header of its screen.

  • The life area comes from the record: a “Workout” task in the “Health” life area gives XP to “Health”.
  • The Budget Plan always goes to “Finance”, while day bonuses and day results have no life area.
  • If you change the life area of a record, the XP already earned stays with the old one.

How life areas affect the balance radar is covered in the “Life Areas” article.

Step 7

Ranking

Your profile has a badge with your place among MyLife users. There's no list of participants: you only see your own row.

  • Three boards: the week from Monday, the month from the 1st and all time. The best of the three results is shown.
  • Places 1–10 are shown as a number: “This week: you're #4”. From 11th place on, it says “you're ahead of X% of users”, with the percentage rounded down to a multiple of five.
  • It's recalculated once a day at 4:00 Moscow time (UTC+3). Today's XP shows up in the ranking tomorrow morning.
  • Everyone signed in takes part. XP earned without an account doesn't count toward the ranking.
  • In the Feed, a post author's all-time place shows under their name: “🔥 Top 3”, “Top 500”. Anonymous posts don't show it.
Step 8

Sync

XP is stored in your account and is the same on all devices.

  • No double awards: the same action from two devices counts once.
  • Offline, XP is awarded in the app and sent to the server when you're back online.
  • Signing in to an existing account: on iPhone, XP earned without signing in is replaced with the account's XP. When you create a new account, it's kept.
  • Past activity: the first time you launched a version with XP, the iPhone app awarded it for your past activity, with no limits.
FAQ

FAQ

Why didn't I get XP for a task?
Most likely you hit the daily task limit (about 50). Also, a one-time task doesn't give XP again if you uncheck it and check it off again.
Why did my level go down?
XP was taken back: you unchecked something or deleted a record soon after creating it. Your level is based on your current XP total.
Why can't I see my level?
Your level and ranking show up after you sign in.
When will my ranking update?
The ranking is recalculated once a day at 4:00 Moscow time (UTC+3).
Can others see my XP?
The ranking list isn't shown to anyone. Only your non-anonymous Feed posts show your all-time place, for example “Top 500”.
How much XP do I need for the next level?
Tap your level in your profile: the sheet shows how much is left. Each level needs 50 XP more than the one before.
Do I need PRO?
No. XP, levels and the ranking are free. Only some sections are paid, for example Day results.
